Quarriers is one of Scotland’s leading social care charities, working alongside thousands of people through more than 100 services in Scotland. We support unpaid carers with services in Moray, Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Dumfries and Galloway, and North West Glasgow. Quarriers provides support that transforms lives every day, but we want to do more.
A carer is someone who, without payment, provides help and support to a partner, child, relative or friend who could not manage without them. Every caring situation is different and there is a wide range of reasons why they may need help, including illness, age, disability, alcohol or substance abuse, and mental health issues.
The Virtual Carers Centre is a hub of information and resources for carers of all ages. We’ll always listen to what carers tell us they want, so we will continue to develop this site, adding new information, resources and details of local support. This service will always be shaped by the people that we support.
Our experience tells us that unpaid carers sometimes need information immediately to help with unexpected demands at any time of the day. Many carers also live outwith cities or towns, so access to an office base can also be difficult. We recognise that time available in any given day is limited, so we want to provide a one-stop shop for national, regional and local information.
Supporting you to know your rights as a carer is an important part of the role we play. Quarriers wants unpaid carers to be aware of their rights and entitlements, and to know that there are people out there who can support them, regardless of their needs.
